Internet users everywhere are taking advantage of Proxy use. There is an element of protection that comes along with proxy use. All frequent users of the internet should be using a proxy to help maintain their privacy and levels of security when connected to the internet. Public proxy use is just one of the many options available to you.

When you connect to the internet without a secure connection or proxy, all of the information you are exchanging and transmitting can be traced. Every email that is sent, every website that is visited is gathered and stored. How? Your computer has its own digital fingerprint called an Ip Address. IP is short for Internet Protocol. If your IP (internet protocol) address is exposed while you surf the internet it can be intercepted. Once your IP address is intercepted the culprit can easily trace your IP to your ISP (internet service provider). Any internet information that is gathered about your use is stored for upwards three years with an ISP. This is where the protection of using a public proxy comes into play.

A public proxy is a web based proxy that acts as an intermediary between any internet user and the website that user is trying to access. The public proxys ability to protect the user lies in its IP masking or cloaking ability. When a user find a public proxy to use, the proxy fields all the user requests to the website the user is accessing. The proxy also receives all responses from the website. Most websites cache the IP address of the user. Because the internet user is using a public proxy, the website can only cache the IP address of the proxy. The Proxys IP address is not the same as the users IP address and this action shields the personal digital fingerprint of any user who opts to use a proxy.

Out of all the various types of Proxies, the public proxy is often free of charge. That is an added plus in terms of convenience but it terms of safety it may not be. Take the time to determine whether the public proxy you choose to use is not vulnerable to security leaks. You dont want your personal information to end up in the hands of a hacker. Public proxy use may decrease your chances of ever having to be a victim on internet crimes such as identity theft.
